A new Final Fantasy XIII character has just been revealed in Japan. The latest issue of Weekly Shounen Jump offers a first look at Sazh Katzroy.
This new character is a bit different from Lightning, bandanna guy and pigtail girl (the latter two are now known to be named Snow and Vanille, but we still prefer our pet names). First off, he's black. Yes, over a decade later, and FFVII's Barret now has some company.
Also of note, Sazh weilds a pair of guns, which can be used for long range combat. Jump speculates that he'll be a good pairing with Lightning, whom it says specializes at close range.
But forget the skin color, forget the guns -- what's most important of all is that Sazh has a giant fro. In the official artwork that we've seen, it appears to be a well-kept fro, and goes nicely with the van dyke that surrounds his bright smile.
In terms of height, the fro extends about one-third face-height above Sazh's head -- just perfect enough to house the baby Chocobo that lives inside it.
Sazh will first appear in the earlier stages of the FFXIII storyline -- so early, in fact, that we'll get to use him in the the demo that hits Japan this March.
